La Casita de Rita is a peaceful, stylish retreat in the north of Fuerteventura, designed for pure relaxation. Enjoy year-round sunshine, lush gardens, pools and a spectacular private roof terrace with 360° views of volcanoes, sea and even Lanzarote. Perfectly located near Corralejo, El Cotillo and Lajares, this beautifully equipped apartment combines tranquillity, comfort and unforgettable sunrises & sunsets. Thoughtfully furnished with warmth and character, creating a true home away from home.

Welcome to “La Casita de Rita” at Casilla de Costa, your home away from home in Fuerteventura! My name is Rita and I have worked as a Tour Manager in the Travel Industry for many years, lucky enough to take groups of tourists to beautiful destinations all over the world, staying in some of the finest hotels and resorts. Together with my husband John, we decided on Fuerteventura for our holiday home as it’s a relatively short flying time from our main home, the year-round fabulous weather couldn’t be beaten and because there are few lakes and ponds on the island (i.e. still water), the population of mosquitos is very low. We tried all the Canary Islands before choosing our favourite - it just had to be Fuerteventura! The locals are lovely, the food (and wine!) is delicious and the volcanic landscape is quite spectacular. We love sailing and diving too and the waters off the coast are teeming with incredible sea life, so we get out on/in the ocean as often as possible. What we also really love is how peaceful the island is, that we can just land here, instantly forget about our busy lives back home and just RELAX. We picked Casilla de Costa for that very reason - we love the architecture and the beautiful gardens, and the fact that it is close enough to enjoy the beaches, restaurants and bars, shopping and sights of the small lively towns of Corallejo and El Cotillo, but also far enough away to avoid the headaches and noise that go with actually living “in town.” On our beautiful roof terrace, we have 360% views of the north of the island and can take in the most wonderful sunrises and sunsets over our volcano and sea views…we wouldn’t have those views anywhere else on the island - you can even see Lanzarote - we just love it here!

Enough about us - let me tell you about the apartment! We picked the first floor on purpose as it gave us the most outside space - the fantastic roof terrace I’ve already touched on, and the fabulous south-facing terrace conveniently located off the living area and the bedroom that overlooks the pools and gardens and enjoys year-round sunshine; it’s our go-to spot for breakfast - and indeed most meals we have whilst we’re there - although we have trays and a carrying cage if you prefer to take stuff upstairs and eat on the roof terrace instead. We tend to only use the breakfast bar in the kitchen area when the weather is bad, but it’s a cool place to hang when my husband is rustling up a delicious dinner for us (he’s a great cook). I actually love cooking too, as I eat in hotels and restaurants all the time whilst I’m working and I love/miss a home-cooked meal when I’m away.

The fully kitted-out kitchen features the ultimate in luxury - a filtered hot/cold/boiling water tap: no more having to visit the supermarket en-route to your holiday home from the airport and drag heavy bottles of water up the stairs (something I hated having to do)! No more having to fill a kettle on your holidays either - instant boiling filtered water at your fingertips!

In addition, there is a large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a fitted fan oven with an induction hob and extractor fan, a fitted microwave oven, a toaster and a large set of pans and ovenproof dishes for you to use. We also put in an air fryer, as we bought one for our main house when we were renovating the kitchen, and now use it all the time - you can find lots of great recipes for air fryer cooking online. There is also a full breakfast/dinner service (with a variety of cups and mugs in addition) and various types of glasses to accommodate cocktails/smoothies you can make in the blender (don’t worry - we have a cocktail shaker for the purists), and there’s a bottle holder and ice bucket to keep your bottles of wine or beers chilled too. We have a great little cappuccino/espresso machine, as well as a cafetière if you prefer an Americano for your morning coffee. There are utensils for everything - from graters to olive pitters to shrimp cleaners and an ice cream scoop, this kitchen has them all - I love my kitchen gadgets! There are pop-up plugs in the kitchen area for plugging in appliances, which feature USB and mobile phone charging points for your convenience too.

The living area features a large pocket sprung sofa with chaise longue and a Smart TV with remote, so you can log in and out of your accounts with ease and there is high speed WiFi throughout. We decorated to go with the landscape - shades of blue bring in the sky and the ocean and burnt orange brings in the volcanoes. All of the photos and artwork were either taken or created by John from our trips to the island, as we wanted to give the apartment our own personal touch.

The bedroom features a very comfortable pocket sprung King-sized bed, with fitted bedside tables, a tallboy chest of drawers for your smalls and t-shirts and an overhead fan with remote control to keep you cooled down on the hottest nights.

There are 2 double wardrobes in the hallway with plenty of hangers, and a shoe storage unit at the entrance to the property too. I prefer to unpack/put everything away when I’m on holiday there, as it makes it even more “homely-feeling.”

The shower room features hooks and towel rails in addition to storage drawers, a trolley for your toiletry bags, a wall-hung magnifying mirror and a hairdryer (with diffuser) for your convenience. We supply all the bedding and towels you’ll need during your stay - including towels for taking to the pool area or the beach.

There is a laundry basket in the utility room and a washing machine should you choose to launder your clothes whilst you’re there, with a drying rack/pegs you can take up to the roof and a built-in drying rack (in the utility room) to hang your swimwear/beach towels on, and a garment steamer if your clothes arrive a bit creased. Don't worry - there are manuals for all of the electric goods kept in the apartment, in case you’re unsure of how to use any of them.

On the roof terrace there are 2 cushioned teak sun loungers with drinks tables attached, as well as a very comfortable built-in cushioned seating/lounging area and a storage box that doubles up as a table.

The pool area features showers and sun loungers and is surrounded by beautifully planted gardens, which will only become lovelier as the plants and trees mature.

There is plenty of parking available on the perimeter of the complex.

The closest town of Villaverde up the road has a couple of convenience stores you can walk to/from the apartment if you’re so inclined, but it also features some of the finest gourmet restaurants on the island!

The larger tourist town of Corralejo is 10 minutes drive away to the south east, with its bustling shopping areas and larger supermarkets, as well as weekly tourist markets and lots of bars, cafes and restaurants catering to every taste. The town also features beautiful beaches and a small harbour/port where you can get day trips by ferry to Playa Blanca, Lanzarote and Lobos Island and book deep sea fishing trips or even charter your own boat. The stunning sands of the Parque Natural de Las Dunas de Corralejo lie adjacent to the town, and are a must visit on your trip to the North of Fuerteventura.

Headed out towards the north coast, you come to the inland surfer town of Lajares about 8 minutes drive away, which also has a large supermarket and a bakery. There is an Artisan Market every Saturday morning in the Main Square and there are several decent cafes and restaurants to try too - it’s great if you wish to avoid the tourist town restaurants during your stay.

On the north coast about 15 minutes drive from Casilla de Costa is the lovely little town of El Cotillo which features some great surfing beaches as well as the famous Lagoons of Fuerteventura, natural pools that are safe for swimming and snorkeling. There is no nicer town in Fuerteventura to enjoy the sunset than El Cotillo, and there are several really good restaurants and bars to seek out for cocktails, lunch or dinner whilst you’re there.

All in all, Casilla de Costa is an ideal place for exploring the North of Fuerteventura, and it’s only half an hours drive to/from the airport. We have set the apartment up to be enjoyed by couples, as I think you need more space for families to be comfortable. Our lovely friend/neighbour Peter will be there to check you in and out and is on hand to contact, should you have any issues during your stay. Thanks for checking us out - we look forward to welcoming you at Rita’s Casita for a relaxing, memorable stay.
